Heritage of Kanpur



Historical & Famous Places of Kanpur
Kanpur is an important historical town. This is the birth place of Ganesh Shankar Vidhyarthi & the poet of "Jhanda Uncha Rahe hamara" Sh. Shyam Lal Gupta "Parshad".

There is 350 years old only manuscript of Gurugranth Sahib and certified with the signature of  Bhai Banno Sahib is also available in "Gurudwara Banno Sahib". A museum can also be seen in Phool Baugh.
On the bank of holy river Ganga, following holy ghats can also be seen.

  3. Bhagwatdas Ghat
  4. Siddheshwar Ghat
  5. Bhairon Ghat
  6. Rani Ghat
J.K. Temple, a symbol of Indian historical art can also be seen in Kanpur. Famous Moti Jheel , Bauddha vihar  and newly constructed Gautam Buddha Park are also situated in Kanpur.






The four famous and holy Temples of Lord Shiva are also situated in Kanpur

  4. Jageshwar temple




ZOO: A zoo of international standard is also situated in Kanpur. The parts of ancient structure & monuments of  the time of King  Yayati can be seen in Jajmau.






BITHOOR : This holy and historical place is situated 21 kms. away from Kanpur on the bank of holy river Ganga. Besides Kashi, the holy place Bithoor is decorated with maximum nos. of beautiful ghats.  The Bithoor is also known as "Brahmvart" (The creation place of Manu and Satrupa). It is also believed that Maharshi Balmiki has created the first Mahagrantha of Hindu "Ramayana" here & Lav & Kush was born & brought up in his Aashram. Ramel is the place where Avadh Naresh Shri Ram met with Lav & Kush after Ashwamegha Yagya.
Maharani Laxmi bai passed her childhood here and this is the work place of freedom fighters Tatya Tope, Azimullah Khan, Mainavati & Nanarao Peshwa.
The temples of Gupta period can also be seen 32 kms away from Kanpur.




Green Park, a cricket stadium of international standard  is also situated in Kanpur.
The Green Park stadium established in 1945, is located near the Civil Lines in Kanpur. It has been an international stadium and had been host to Cricket Test matches and One Day Internationals regularly. The multi-purpose stadium formerly known as Modi Stadium is situated close to the river Ganges and has a capacity of 39,255 spectators. International milestone in Green Park Stadium includes a test total of 676 by India against Sri Lanka in the 1986-87 season.

Bithoor Sai Darbar, Bithoor Kanpur 

Bithoor Sai Darbar is situated on Mandhna to Bithoor Road. Its a beautiful temple of Sri Sai Nath. Its situated apart from city so there is a very good environment.



IIT Kanpur
The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (commonly known as IIT Kanpur or IITK) is a public engineering institution located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. It was declared to be Institute of National Importance by Government of India under IT Act.
Established in 1959 as one of the first Indian Institute of Technology, the institute was created with the assistance of a consortium of nine leading US research universities as part of the Kanpur Indo-American Programme



Kannauj, the city of perfumes is also situated on G.T. road 80 kms. away from Kanpur. The city was very famous during the period of Harshavardhan.
